Canvas Dreams at Green Festival

Green Festival

A partnership between Green America and Global Exchange, Green Festival is the largest and most comprehensive series of sustainability events in North America. Taking place in several major U.S. cities throughout the year, Green Festival features hundreds of participants and businesses involved in the green movement, including authors and lecturers, manufacturers and service providers, building suppliers and more. Each Green Festival event draws tens of thousands of visitors from the surrounding region.

Canvas Dreams, LLC first participated in the San Francisco Green Festival in November, 2009. We exhibited again in San Francisco at the Spring Green Festival, April 10-11, 2010, and the Seattle Green Festival on June 5-6, 2010. We have made Green Festival part of our outreach program in our quest to share our knowledge about sustainable technology and Web hosting.

June 2010 Seattle Green Festival

Seattle Green Festival

Canvas Dreams exhibited in booths 824 and 826 at the June 2010 Seattle Green Festival! Our theme was "The Three C's" of Sustainability: Conversation, Community, Commerce.

We shared a double booth space with Peraska, including a 24-foot educational wall made from reclaimed tradeshow materials, that explains our approach to sustainable business.

Introducing "The Wall: Entry Points to Sustainability"

Our 24 foot-long, interactive booth exhibit at the Seattle Green Festival aimed to answer a simple question: "What IS Sustainable Business?" We've created a virtual version for those who could not see it in person.

Learn more about The Wall

Canvas Dreams exhibited at the 3rd Annual Seattle Green Festival in June 2010!

On June 4, 2010, Canvas Dreams headed North to join in the Seattle Green Festival.

Attendance at the event was less than we had anticipated, but we were amazed at the level of conversation we struck with conference goers.

Unlike previous Green Festivals, the Seattle venue put us in front of many more knowledgeable, conscientious people who wanted to learn about and share their perspectives of sustainable business.

In time for this Green Festival, we had prepared an educational "wall" as the backdrop of our shared double-booth with Peraska. The wall measured 7 feet high by 24 feet in length, was constructed of reclaimed tradeshow materials, and told the story of our collective journey down the path of sustainability as we learn, grow, and relay our experiences of greening our business and lives.

As with the April Green Festival, we live streamed images from our booth during the Green Festival so people unable to attend the event could see a glimpse of how busy it was.

We've posted the videos to YouTube and made them available here for your enjoyment. Click on each of the videos at right to begin playing them.

April 2010 San Francisco Green Festival

Following our successful Green Festival appearance in November 2009, Canvas Dreams returned to San Francisco for the first-ever Spring Green Festival to be held in the city on April 10 and 11, 2010!

On April 9, 2010, Canvas Dreams made another journey to San Francisco to participate in the Spring Green Festival.

Attendance at the event was better than we had hoped, and we talked with hundreds of interested booth visitors about sustainable Web hosting and business.

This time we brought a few new goodies:

During our drive to San Francisco, we posted live pictures from a dashboard-mounted Web cam and composed a time elapsed video at 15-second intervals for most of the drive.

Additionally, we live broadcasted from our booth during the Green Festival so people unable to attend the event could see a glimpse of how busy it was.

We also brought with us Apple's new iPad guestbook and let visitors try it out while signing our online guestbook.

We've posted the videos to YouTube and made them available here for your enjoyment. Click on each of the videos at right to begin playing them.

What is Sustainable Web Hosting?

At Green Festival, we had the pleasure of speaking with Steffany Boldrini of Eco Bold. Steffany conducts video interviews of green and sustainable products, services, and businesses. She asked us, "What is sustainable Web hosting?" -- it's something many people have asked us over the years. Watch the brief video below to hear the answer and what we are doing to continue our journey towards sustainability!

2009 San Francisco Green Festival

For the first time ever, Canvas Dreams exhibited at the Green Festival in San Francisco, Nov. 13-15, 2009, part of a Twitter-rich road trip.

Canvas Dreams' voyage to San Francisco and back was an overwhelming success. In addition to the wonderful opportunity of meeting Laura Flanders, we were reviewed by the New York Times and TreeHugger.com. Additionally, lots of Green Business Network members personally sought us out. We are so glad to have been able to participate in this event.

David Anderson, Principal of Canvas Dreams wrote up his thoughts on the trip. You can read a PDF of his article, "The 2009 San Francisco Green Festival: A Path To Sustainability", by clicking here.
